• M&S expands presence of children’s clothing brands at M&S ​​by introducing Clarks to 27 M&S stores and Smiggle to 60 stores, all in time for back to school

Today M&S announces the expansion of ‘Brands at M&S’ childrenswear brands, welcoming iconic footwear brand Clarks and popular school supplies brand Smiggle and Hype to more stores across the UK , as well as Kickers and Jansport on M& This summer, M&S is the one stop shop for back to school, offering everything from school clothes to accessories for a seamless shopping experience.

At M&S, we are known for our durable and reliable quality school uniform. As a go-to back-to-school retailer, we leverage the strength of our in-house offering and make it easy to remember the ‘extras’ by offering a carefully curated choice of third-party brands that appeal to our customers. The brands offer convenient in-store services, such as free shoe measurement and fitting, as well as complementary accessories for the new school – a category in which M&S does not have an extensive own-brand offering.

The third-party back-to-school offer is part of the broader ‘Brands at M&S’ strategy, which gives customers access to a carefully selected pool of brands and all the benefits of shopping with the platform. M&S, from the next day Click for free & Collect at our Sparks loyalty program.

Although primarily an online platform, the store expansion of Clarks, Hype and Smiggle follows the success of a trial in 8 stores across the UK for the back to school l ‘last year. Stores that offered Clarks’ complementary measuring and fitting service saw an average 8% increase in in-store customers, increasing total children’s clothing sales by 13% while continuing to increase their share of market.

Back to school is the third most important business event of the year. With 1 in 4 M&S Clothing & Home customers now buying children’s clothing, attracting family shoppers is a key strategic focus. Earlier in the year, M&S also welcomed award-winning early childhood toy specialist, Early Learning Center to 10 stores across the UK.
